I researched faucets for a while, and then I chose Menard's to purchase a Delta foundations faucet. Menard's – S. 27th St. Oak Creek I went to Menard's on February 25, 2021. I brought my wife to have her opinion about the handles and a visual as to what I was going to buy. I was measuring the faucet for spout height and the display piece was loose. I took the display piece down. It was just above my head height. I was attempting to place the display piece back. When a Menard's associate came by and said you shouldn’t take the display down. I told him I was measuring it when it came loose and was attempting to put it back. He attempted to put it back and had some difficulty as well. He says to me “you know that nothing is going to come out of the faucet” I cringed and let it go. My wife heard it as well. Then I said to my wife,” what about the other faucet higher up”. He interjects and says” you know if you turn the handles water is not going to come out of it”. I cringed again and said “We wanted to try it out and see how it feels and get a measurement. I know that water is not going to come out of it”. I said” could you bring it down so we could get a better look at it”. He then said if you turn the handles nothing is going to come out and he could look up the spec’s on line. That is when I lost it and with a loud voice I said “do you think I am some F@#%$ing idiot that I think all of the display faucets are hooked up to a water supply. You said this three times to me and I have had it with you saying this to me”. He ended up getting a ladder, but the poor customer service was done. I told my wife I am not going to purchase this faucet from Menard's. This treatment is ridiculous. I ended up with a MOEN Caldwell faucet from LOWES. Their staff was very courteous. When the installers showed up they said no, they don't because the tiles break and they certainly couldn't do 2 bathrooms with only 2 boxes. they called their supervisor while i called lowes and then, apparently, the installers were told to leave, but no one thought it necessary to let me know. Keep in mind that the lowes store is LITERALLY 5 minutes away from my house. They could have left someone here to begin the removal while someone else went to the store for more boxes. Finally, after months, the vinyl floors were complete, although as a result it held up the installation of the new vanity. 2 - after the mess with the bathrooms there was no way i was going to let them touch the wood floors. i wanted my money back for the installation and, of course, lowes made that as difficult as possible. (a story for another day) I then contacted Flowers Flooring and they did an amazing installation job with no hassles or hiccups. However, now it was clear that lowes grossly over-estimated the area and i now have 2 full boxes of left over flooring. 3 - The floor in the master bath is done and re-done, yet the installation of the vanity is STILL not finished. Needed pieces kept arriving damaged or they never arrived. At one point lowes told me to go to the store to get some lumber and stain it. WHAT???? Yet, I did and it didn't work. (Yes, that's on me) The last time they were to come to finish it I went over the entire list of things that had to be fixed or installed. Yes, yes, yes. No Problem. They arrived and fixed the faucet that was 2" from the hot handle and 3" from the cold handle and then packed up. They hadn't been told of the filler piece, the end caps, the moldings and the kick plate. I was told they had neither the tools nor the materials. Waited 10-15 minutes with nothing happening so finally walked out. Seem to be lots of Red vests walking around the store but no one can run a checkout counter. Lowes has become worse than Wal-Mart for checking out. I can drive 90 miles to Wichita, KS and shop at Menards and get home quicker than I can drive 40 miles to a Lowes and get checked out. Incident number 1. I paid for the install of a new hot water heater through this store several weeks ago. I called Lowe's installation and we had a three-way conversation with the contractor who said that they were waiting on permit approval from the city. I was given a time frame and once that day had passed I called back and was told that the contractor would call me back, which he didn't. I found this odd because I live in the Colony which is in Bastrop County but outside of the city limits of Bastrop so I didn't understand what permitting process he was referring to. I called the next day only to get rolled to an answering machine. I left a message asking about the status and to call me back. Again, no response. I called the contractor (Hambone plumbing) this morning, again rolled over to the answering machine, and requested a call back on the status. I then called Lowe's installation specialist and on a three-way call, he was rolled onto an answering machine and left a message to call back. There s no emergency here and I have waited for the install to happen. I do not expect everything to go smoothly since there is a shortage of plumbers following the Texas ice storm. The second time, I pressed the Lowe's representative who chased this down with the vendor, and learned that the part had been backlogged for 2 months. Given that this is an irrigation system I was trying to restore, this was wholly unacceptable to me and I canceled the order and bought the part from another source. I do want to commend the Lowe's representative who chased this down for me. It took some work and I appreciate her diligence. Unfortunately, I don't have her name but she is to be commended. The feedback here is that for orders that are delayed this long, Lowe's needs to inform their customers. Some parts are not time-sensitive but well before two months from now, I will need my irrigation systems to be up and running. To be forced into being a nagging customer is no fun for me or for your employees. A much simpler system would automate providing feedback on existing orders when backorders are this long. Tie-downs were not available! 2. The ad also says: "Just bring the truck back with a full tank of gas." I didn't see this detail when taking a quick glance at the ad. The service person didn't say this but she did mumble something about gas. Apparently the policy has changed because I noticed that the tank was only approximately 3/4 full when I left the store. My trip took 21 miles and upon return was asked if I had replaced the gas. I hadn't and was told I would have to pay for one gallon of gas at $5. If the service person had mentioned that Lowe's would replace the gas at $5 a gallon it would have made an impression and I would had acted accordingly. 3. I wasn't provided a contract which outlined the rental policies. 4. Twice upon stopping at a stop light the F-150's engine turned off. That was quite frightening being in the middle of a busy road. Fortunately, I took my foot off the gas and the engine started right up. I'm assuming this is some sort of gas economizing feature of the truck. I definitely think the renter needs to be informed of this!!! 5. I asked the service person if a full 4x8 sheet of plywood would fit in the bed. She didn't know and didn't seem to care about finding out. Geez, how about giving your folks a little training? 6. The process of renting and returning the truck was quick and efficient. Holly never gave me one indication or the other and I could potentially do a better job due to my dirsct experience as well as my trade knowledge. Electrical, plumbing and tools are all areas I covered for Ace. Sadly I cant lift more than 20 pounds (injury) and that keeps me from being considered. Holly ended the interview on (if you cant do the 70 pound lift, I cant hire you). Today as a customer I still see the frustration of not finding what I drive to store for because I am over the head of the department employee or they leave empty peg hooks for weeks.
